Styling & Musicality (Last Chance Week 5)
What does it mean to have style? What is musicality, really? In this class, Anthony breaks down those abstract concepts and finally makes them make sense. From the way your body moves in rhythm dances like Two Step and West Coast Swing, to the secrets of finding (and hitting!) the breaks in the music, this class will change the way you think—and feel—about your dancing. You’ll learn why Two Step is not a smooth dance (and why that matters), how to develop your movement from the center out, and the difference between moving “with your foot” vs. “from your foot.” You'll also discover how things like “over, under, or through” styling apply to each dance, and how your body and arms can communicate the emotion of the song with confidence—not awkwardness. Finally, Anthony dives into how music is structured—think 16s, 32s, and 64s—and how pro dancers use that phrasing to hit musical breaks perfectly, even without choreography. You’ll hear it. You’ll feel it. And soon, you’ll be able to use it. This is the class that bridges technical knowledge with artistic expression, and it’s one you’ll want to rewatch again and again.
