2S: Windmills

This intermediate-to-advanced Two Step pattern is called The Windmills, and it’s a stylish way to show off smooth timing, clean turns, and creative handwork. You’ll start from a sweetheart position and use a series of tandem Chaines turns with coordinated hand switches to create a fluid, eye-catching sequence on the floor. Inside this lesson: How to use slow counts to switch footwork and match your partner’s rhythm Why consistency in hand placement is critical (especially when turning blind) How to stay in correct alignment and spacing throughout the pattern The key to “being turned” vs. turning on your own How to guard the connection and maintain control—even through multiple windmills We also break down why this pattern works better with Chaines turns, how to keep the flow smooth without rushing, and what leaders need to do to avoid falling out of sync. There’s a lot to unpack here, but once it clicks, this move becomes a real crowd-pleaser.
