2S: Arm Catches
In this Two-Stepping Tuesday video, Anthony and Rose teach a slick-looking intermediate Two Step move called the Arm Catches. It's one of those patterns that looks super impressive on the social floor but is actually easier than it seems—especially once you break it down and get the hang of the timing and connection. The move starts in promenade position and flows through a series of alternating inside turns where the leader catches the follower's wrist or forearm, sending her back the other way with a bit of stylish flair. The key is keeping the connection strong—not in the hands, but in the center of the body. Rose also walks followers through maintaining frame (not spaghetti arms!) so they can feel the lead and move confidently. You’ll also learn: How the leader stays centered while pivoting The difference between full vs. partial weight changes How the follower keeps moving down the line while rotating When it’s okay to throw in performance-style arm styling—and when not to Anthony even drops some hot takes on competition vs. social dancing, and how to avoid “weenie arms.” It’s casual, fun, and packed with usable tips to clean up your dancing—and maybe turn some heads.
