WCS: Inside Roll In

In this lesson, Anthony and Rose break down one of their favorite new West Coast Swing patterns — a slick whip variation that uses a J-hook lead, a ronde for the leader, and a rotating exit that feels super dynamic once you get the hang of it. The pattern starts in open position and plays off an 8-count structure, so it's important to understand how to break timing into "sections" like one-two, three-and-four, and so on. This move includes a right-hand lead instead of the traditional back connection, which makes leading the forward step and redirecting the energy a little trickier — but also way cooler once you master it. They walk through the lead and follow footwork, how the opposition connection works (hello ring-around-the-rosie), and why the partnership and body rotation matter way more than perfect feet. There’s also a fun pause in the middle where you can style or groove a little before finishing the pattern with a clean free spin exit and anchor. It’s one of those “feel good once it clicks” combos, and a great way to level up your social West Coast Swing.
